Texas Supreme Court Justice John Devine is a Conservative Christian who is known as a Defender of Religious Liberty and Defender of the Constitution who cannot be bought or bullied. He has stood up for Judeo-Christian principles which are the bedrock of this Nation’s founding.

In a speech given last year, Justice Devine referred to his Texas Supreme Court Republican colleagues as being ‘brainwashed by Big Law’ and being more concerned with legal procedures rather than their duty to uphold the U.S. Constitution. He is quoted as saying, “At times I feel like they would sacrifice the Republic for the sake of the process. My concern is that they all bow down to the altar of process rather than to fidelity to the Constitution. And when I say that, it’s not meant to be malice towards my colleagues. I think it’s how they were trained — how they were brainwashed”.

During his speech, Devine referenced a case that the Texas Supreme Court refused to hear in 2022, where Jeff Younger, a man who received a court order preventing his wife from pursing gender-transition therapies for their young child, petitioned the Court to stop his wife from moving their child to California that now has a refuge law protecting parents from prosecution when fleeing from other states that restrict gender transitioning care. The Court’s refusal was based on legal procedure and speculation which infuriated Devine who stated, “I'm not going to stand here sanctimoniously and say, ‘Well he didn’t cross a T or dot an I’ [referring to Younger] “We are talking about great constitutional issues here that will determine whether we survive as a representative republic or not. Are we going to just have it stolen from us? Over process for crying out loud?”

As the keynote speaker at the Texas Tea Party Republican Women’s 2023 Christmas Event, Justice Devine spoke of the upcoming 2024 Presidential election stating: “Do you really think the democrats are going to roll over and let Trump be President again? You think they’re just going to go away, all of a sudden find Jesus and [there will] be an honest election? I don’t think so”.

In a prior speech, Devine accused democrat leaders in Harris County, Texas of trying to “bastardize our election code” with their “dirty tricks”. He went on to point out other injustices such as when the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office could not prosecute voting crimes and said that [the Court officials] are controlled by “Rinos” and “trans-Republicans’

In 2004, Justice Devine was sued for displaying a painting of the Ten Commandments during his tenure as District Court Judge. Additionally, after a judge sided with a woman who sued over the Bible Monument outside the Courthouse (which Devine had refurbished), Devine stated, “We are at war now over the systematic elimination of Christian tradition from Civil Government. This is just one more battle. If they take the Bible, the battle will continue for the heart and soul of America”.

Justice John Devine is up for re-election in 2024. In a speech to his constituents and supporters, Justice Devine is quoted as saying, “Our culture is dying before our eyes. The Church seems to be weakened and [does] not know what to do. We have a corrupted government. On a federal level, we’re run by a criminal enterprise [and] none of you are going to escape this. And so, I would implore you to get closer to the Lord. I would implore you to prepare. I would implore you to bring other people on board”.

That’s not an apparent concern for Devine, who in his September remarks also took aim at a number of Texas officials over a variety of legal or political disputes. Texas’ all-GOP Court of Criminal Appeals — which ruled that Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office could not unilaterally prosecute local voting crimes — is controlled by “RINOs” and “trans-Republicans,” Devine said. He also railed against Democratic leaders in Harris County, accusing them of “Democrat dirty tricks” and trying to “bastardize our election code” to steal elections.
